And Not Feel Awkward!
Brittni Marie is a Destination Wedding Photographer based in Southeast Michigan who Travels Worldwide!
Here is my guide on how to not feel awkward in your engagement photos! Don't even worry, so many couples feel kind of silly during their engagement and wedding photos. After all, its not every day that someone follows you two around taking photographs of you and especially not intimate photographs of you two! Its perfectly normal to feel awkward. One thing that will help you feel more confident is to know what poses to do. Your photographer should have some suggestions up their sleeves on posing but if not, check out some of my go-to poses below!
Pose #1
The Standard
This one is easy. You literally stand close to your partner and turn in towards each other. You can either look at the camera or each other. You will want at least a few looking at the camera for your save the dates. (That way not all of your photographs are kissing and not looking)
Pose #2
The Lets Hold Hands
This pose can transition very easily. You can start by holding one hand and move to two hands. You can look at each other, both look off, pull each other in and out and be silly, the possibilities are endless. This pose transitions easily into the next pose.
Pose #3
The Kiss me Baby One More Time
From the previous pose you can easily pull into each other for a kiss. Hands can stay together or move around each other. This pose is super versatile!
Pose #4
The Giggle
For this pose I typically have one of you whisper something silly to make the other person laugh! I usually get the most authentic laughing/happy photos during this time!
Pose #5
The Look at Her
I like to have one of you look at the other person and one of you look at me. Its a classic pose!
Pose #6
The Bear Hug
This was post bear hug and all laughs and smiles. Its a silly pose that is so fun! Embrace the silly!
Pose #7
The Snuggle is Real
Snuggling in from behind is always a romantic pose.
Your photographer can get close and show off your ring too! ?
Pose #8
The Eskimo Kiss
This is one of my go-to poses. I ask my couples to stand face to face with their foreheads touching and their eyes closed. It feels like such an intimate moment.
Pose #9
The Lift Me Up
I always make sure my couples are comfortable doing this pose
first but if they are, its always adorbs!
Pose #10
The Walk This Way
Movement poses always look more natural. I encourage holding hands and walking to get a more relaxed carefree photo like this one!
Pose #11
The Sit Down
I always try to incorporate a few sitting down photos.
You can get really snuggly this way and it feels less
pressured and more real! ?
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to poses. The more movement you can incorporate, the more natural you will feel and the less awkward you will feel! Make it fun! Do silly stuff! And Don't worry, you will look GREAT!
